Year 6 Transition Program
Our Year 6 transition program is designed to support each student’s unique needs, helping them feel confident and prepared for the move to high school.
Term 2:
We begin a supported transition program for students who may benefit from extra time to adjust. These students receive guidance from an older student mentor and attend sessions in smaller groups, giving them a dedicated space to get familiar with the high school environment. This program usually runs for one hour per week throughout Terms 2 and 3.
Term 4:
All Year 6 students are invited to participate in taster lessons, offering hands-on experiences that showcase life at our school. During these sessions, students tour the campus and learn about daily routines and opportunities available at THS.
Orientation Evening for students and parents:
This welcome event starts with a barbecue dinner, followed by an information session and a guided school tour. Families also have the opportunity to purchase essential school supplies, such as school-approved calculators, aprons, goggles, and more.

Transition for students joining from other schools or areas
We warmly welcome students who are enroling at THS from other schools or areas. We understand that changing schools can feel challenging, and our transition program is designed to help students settle in smoothly.
If you are new to the area or transferring from another school, we encourage you to meet with our Principal for a school tour and to receive more information about the enrolment process and the support available. Please contact our Administration Office for an appointment.
As part of the Temora Community of Schools (TCoS), our students participate in combined activities throughout the year to support their transition. These activities may include STEM challenges, sports and coaching events, fundraisers, buddy programs, and mentorship opportunities, involving students across all grades.
Additionally, TCoS students regularly visit and engage in programs with Early Learning Centres and nursing homes throughout Temora, reinforcing our strong commitment to community and the importance of intergenerational connections.

Subject Selection Expo
Each year, we open our gates for the Subject Selection Expo. Generally held on a school evening in Term 2, this event provides continuing and prospective families with the opportunity to explore the subjects available at Temora High. Our staff offer detailed information and hands-on displays to help students select subjects that align with their desired career paths. Staff are on hand throughout the event to answer any questions and provide personalised support.
